Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through participation in therapy you are able to recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Therapy can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
Kristen received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in March of 2013. She previously received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from California State East Bay in 2008.
Kristen has worked in the Human Services field since 2008, serving in roles such as therapist, social worker, and behavioral counselor. For over a decade, she specialized in supporting foster and at-risk youth, and has since focused on providing services to parents, couples, families, and adults experiencing emotional challenges. Kristen brings extensive experience in helping individuals process and heal from trauma, and reignite their joy and passion for life.
Kristen utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques in treatment as each individual is unique. Techniques include Client-Centered interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, and EMDR (a technique used in the reduction of symptoms resulting from trauma). Pulling from Carl R. Rogers therapeutic approach Kristen believes that for a person to "grow" it is crucial to have an environment with genuineness, acceptance and empathy.
Outside the office, Kristen is happiest outdoors—whether she’s hiking, walking, cycling, or planning a laid-back picnic. In the kitchen, she loves to get creative, mixing flavors and experimenting with ingredients to feed both her family and her soul. She's also embracing the fun (and chaos!) of being a softball coach. Kristen swears by the power of a good playlist to turn around any tough mood, and firmly believes that dancing—two left feet and all—is one of life’s simplest pick-me-ups.
