Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we can experience at various points in our lives. Engaging in mental health therapy, such as EMDR, allows you to recover the motivation, perspective, and joy you once had, supporting your journey towards recovery through therapy services.
Many individuals may experience symptoms related to painful and traumatic circumstances, including anxiety, fear, and hopelessness that can persist after such events. Engaging in mental health therapy, such as EMDR, can be beneficial in overcoming these symptoms and guiding you through the journey of trauma recovery and healing. Therapy services are available to support you in this process.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples looking to strengthen their emotional connection at all stages of their relationship. Therapy services provide a supportive space to discuss issues and solutions, which can be particularly helpful for those dealing with anxiety or seeking trauma recovery. Utilizing techniques like EMDR in mental health therapy can also enhance the effectiveness of these sessions to better strengthen your relationship.
Kristen received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in March of 2013, where she focused on mental health therapy techniques, including EMDR for trauma recovery. She previously earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from California State East Bay in 2008, laying the foundation for her expertise in addressing anxiety and providing comprehensive therapy services.
Kristen has worked in the Human Services field since 2008, serving in roles such as therapist, social worker, and behavioral counselor. For over a decade, she specialized in supporting foster and at-risk youth, and has since focused on providing therapy services to parents, couples, families, and adults experiencing anxiety and emotional challenges. Kristen brings extensive experience in mental health therapy, particularly in helping individuals process and heal from trauma through techniques like EMDR, enabling them to reignite their joy and passion for life during their trauma recovery journey.
Kristen utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques in her therapy services, recognizing that each individual is unique. These techniques include Client-Centered interventions, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems, Mindfulness, and EMDR, which is particularly effective in trauma recovery and the reduction of symptoms associated with anxiety. Drawing from Carl R. Rogers' therapeutic approach, Kristen believes that for a person to truly 'grow,' it is essential to create an environment filled with genuineness, acceptance, and empathy, which is vital for effective mental health therapy.
Outside the office, Kristen is happiest outdoors—whether she’s hiking, walking, cycling, or planning a laid-back picnic. In the kitchen, she loves to get creative, mixing flavors and experimenting with ingredients to feed both her family and her soul. As a softball coach, she embraces the fun (and chaos!) of guiding her team. Kristen swears by the power of a good playlist to turn around any tough mood, and firmly believes that dancing—two left feet and all—is one of life’s simplest pick-me-ups.
